What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis to help individuals make positive changes in their lives. It involves guiding a person into a relaxed, focused state of mind, often referred to as a trance. In this state, the person is more open to suggestions, which can help them address various issues. It is a powerful tool for personal growth and healing. By helping individuals access their subconscious mind, it can facilitate lasting changes and improve overall well-being.
What happens in a hypnotherapy session?
During a hypnotherapy session, your trained practitioner finds out what outcome it is that you want in your life and what your unwanted habits are. They will help you to relax and get into a hyper-focused state. This may involve deep breathing exercises or visualisation techniques. Once you are in a relaxed and hyper-focused state, your therapist can offer suggestions and/or explore thoughts and feelings related to specific challenges, such as anxiety, stress, phobias, or unwanted habits. Your therapist will speak directly to your subconscious as this is where memories and/or traumas are stored.
How does it work?
The key idea behind hypnotherapy is that it can access the subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind stores memories, beliefs, and emotions that influence our behavior. By tapping into this part of the mind, hypnotherapy can help people uncover the root causes of their issues and create new, healthier thought patterns.
Benefits of Hypnotherapy
-
Reducing Anxiety and Stress: Many people find that hypnotherapy helps them manage anxiety and stress by promoting relaxation and positive thinking.
-
Overcoming Phobias: It can be effective in helping individuals face and overcome specific fears, such as fear of flying or public speaking.
-
Breaking Habits: Hypnotherapy can assist in changing unwanted behaviors, like smoking or overeating, by altering the subconscious triggers associated with those habits.
-
Improving Sleep: It may help with insomnia or other sleep issues by addressing the underlying anxiety or thoughts that interfere with restful sleep.
-
Enhancing Performance: Athletes and performers sometimes use hypnotherapy to boost focus, confidence, and overall performance. Can be used for public speaking.
Is it safe?
Hypnotherapy is considered safe when performed by a trained professional. It is important to note that you cannot be made to do anything against your will while in a hypnotic state. The process is collaborative; you remain in control and can choose to accept or reject suggestions.
What to expect in a session
A typical hypnotherapy session lasts about an hour. The practitioner will first discuss your goals and what you hope to achieve. Then, they will guide you into a relaxed state. After the session, you may feel refreshed and more focused. Many people find that they leave the session with a greater sense of clarity and motivation.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)
EFT tapping is a simple technique that combines acupressure and psychology to reduce stress and improve emotional well-being. By gently tapping on specific points on the body while focusing on an issue, it helps release emotional blockages, calm the nervous system, and promote balance. It's effective for addressing anxiety, fears, physical pain, limiting beliefs and more.
